Pedestrian fatally struck by motorcyclist in Fairfield

A pedestrian was killed late Friday when he was struck by a motorcycle in Fairfield.

The crash happened just before 11:30 p.m. in the 6500 block of Aaron Aronov Drive.

Jefferson County sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money said medics attempted life-saving measures on the victim – an adult male – but to no avail. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

His identity has not yet been released.

The motorcyclist remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. He was taken to UAB Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is conducting the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the wreck.
