Bessemer man, 63, charged with sex abuse of 3 young girls

A Bessemer man has been arrested on child sex abuse charges involving three victims.

Hueytown police said the investigation began earlier this month when they were made aware of the possible sex abuse of a child that took place between 2016 and 2018, said Chief Mike Yarbrough.

During the investigation, detectives determined there were likely more victims. They were able to locate those victims, Yarbrough said, and conducted forensic interviews.

Because of the nature of the crimes, no additional information is being release.

The chief said all three victims were girls and knew the suspect.

David Neal Beaty, 63, is charged with first-degree rape, sex abuse of a child under the age of 12 and four counts of indecent exposure.

Beaty was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday and released at 10:23 p.m. after posting $114,000 bond.
