THIS GAME WILL DETERMINE

If UAB made the necessary adjustments during the bye week to compete and possibly make a run toward bowl eligibility with wins in its final four games.

THREE THINGS TO LOOK FOR

1. Let’s Dance. The path to bowl eligibility is made much easier for the Blazers in the backstretch after facing seven straight FBS opponents with a combined record of 41-15. UAB’s remaining opponents are 12-19 overall but Florida Atlantic has won three of its last four games.

2. Fly By Night. Jacob Zeno had three weeks to fully recover from a concussion suffered at UTSA and should be no worse for wear in his return to the lineup. Despite missing the Memphis game, Zeno still ranks top 10 in completions per game (27) and completion rate (74.4 percent).

3. Roads to Moscow. UAB running back Jermaine Brown Jr. Is at the doorstep of setting the program’s record in all-purpose yardage and needs 268 yards to accomplish the feat. He is 56 yards shy of second place and should easily attain it against Florida Atlantic. Brown is also fifth in career rushing (2,685 yards) and rushing touchdowns (27).

KEY MATCHUP

UAB’s cornerbacks vs Florida Atlantic’s LaJohntay Wester: UAB has a trio of sturdy cornerbacks in Mac McWilliams, BJ Mayes and Colby Dempsey, but Wester is by far the most dangerous receiver they have faced this season. The Florida Atlantic junior leads the nation in both receptions per game (9.5) — hauling in 76 catches for 785 yards and five scores — and punt return average (22.7 yards).
