Mississippi State commit Josh Flowers leads second half comeback against Mountain Brook

Quarterback Josh Flowers led a second-half rally as Baker downed Mountain Brook 37-28 to end the regular season.

Flowers, a Mississippi State commitment, ran for 184 yards and threw for 132 yards as the Hornets (8-2) rallied from a 28-13 deficit.

“We decided that Josh was going to carry us tonight,” Baker coach Steve Norman said. “Our coaches made some good adjustments at half and we executed on offense.”

Cole Gamble, who rushed for 108 yards and four touchdowns in the opening half, could only manage one long run the second half. Gamble scored on runs of 12, 16, 5, and 15 yards.

“They made some great adjustments,” Mountain Brook coach Chris Yeager said.  “They decided to load the box and make us throw.”

Flowers scored on a 6-yard run and fired a 41-yard strike to Ladareyen Craig.

Game Ball: Baker kicker Blaine Munson converted on three field goals to keep the Hornets in the game. Munson nailed three pointers from 34, 37 and 25 yards.

Coach Speak: “If we executed, we can be a very good football team.  We executed in the second half.” – Norman.

They said it: “We have some lessons to learn from tonight.  Baker is extremely talented.  The good thing about this is the fact that we have bounced back after all of our losses and a good game following them.” – Yeager added.
