More freezing temperatures tonight for Alabama

Alabama’s chilly weather is set to continue on Wednesday, and more freeze warnings will go into effect late tonight.

Temperatures on Wednesday morning were near or below the freezing point in many Alabama cities, according to data from the National Weather Service.

Here were some temperatures from around the state (not official lows) as of 6 a.m. Wednesday:

Auburn: 36 degrees

Birmingham: 32 degrees

Demopolis: 36 degrees

Dothan: 41 degrees

Gadsden: 32 degrees

Haleyville: 29 degrees

Huntsville: 30 degrees

Mobile: 41 degrees

Montgomery: 40 degrees

Muscle Shoals: 33 degrees

Selma: 37 degrees

Troy: 42 degrees

Tuscaloosa: 36 degrees

A cool fall day is in store for Alabama, with highs reaching only the 50s in most places.

Then another freeze is expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning, and another round of freeze warnings will go into effect.

Here’s a look at the freeze warnings for Alabama tonight:

NORTH ALABAMA

* Freeze warning from 11 p.m. Wednesday until 9 a.m. Thursday for all of north Alabama.

The counties included are Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman.

Temperatures as low as 25 degrees will be possible, according to the National Weather Service.

CENTRAL ALABAMA

Central Alabama freeze

Another freeze is expected tonight.NWS

* Freeze warning from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 9 a.m. Thursday for central Alabama.

The counties included are Sumter, Greene, Hale, Perry, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Marengo, Dallas, Autauga, Elmore, Macon, Lee, Lowndes, Montgomery, Bullock, Russell, Pike, Barbour, Lowndes, Montgomery, Bullock, Russell, Pike and Barbour.

Lows could fall to 27 degrees in some of those areas overnight, according to the weather service.

SOUTH ALABAMA

South Alabama freeze

Freeze warnings will be in effect overnight.NWS

* Freeze warning from 1 a.m. until 8 a.m. Thursday for Choctaw, Washington, Clarke, Wilcox, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Crenshaw, Escambia, Covington and inland Mobile and Baldwin counties.

Temperatures could dip as low as 29 degrees in some of those inland areas overnight, according to forecasters.

* Freeze warning from 1 a.m. until 9 a.m. Thursday for Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston counties.

Lows could range from 28 degrees to 32 degrees in those areas.

Look for temperatures to begin a warming trend on Thursday, with highs expected to be back in the 70s by the weekend.
