Alabama football keeps place in coaches poll after idle weekend
Alabama football didn’t play on Saturday, instead letting other teams do the work in helping the Crimson Tide in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
Alabama stayed at No. 8, earning more overall points and will enter Week 10 with a 7-1 record and 5-0 mark in the Southeastern Conference. Oregon jumped UA after beating previously-No. 13 Utah, 35-6, on the road.
Kansas’ upset victory against Oklahoma and Washington’s narrow win over Stanford helped Alabama earn more of the vote. The Associated Press top 25 will be released later this afternoon.
Georgia remained in the top spot and garnered 58 first-place votes. Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State and Washington held serve in the top five.
At least one representative of the 66 coaches placed the Tide third. UA’s next opponent, LSU (6-2, 4-1), was ranked 13th, up two spots from a week ago.
The Tigers will be the final ranked opponent on UA’s regular-season schedule. The Tide has lost to current No. 7 Texas and has wins over No. 11 Ole Miss and No. 20 Tennessee.
