Here are the 10 highest paying jobs in Birmingham that donât require a degree
The average Birmingham worker makes around $55,000 a year, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Most of the metro’s highest paying jobs are in medicine or other scientific fields that require post graduate college degrees, as the Lede previously reported.
But workers without a college degree can still earn the same salary or in some cases twice as much as others in the city, according to a recent Stacker study. Stacker used BLS data to find the highest-paying jobs in Birmingham that don’t require higher education.
Professions that listed a high school diploma, some college education (without a degree conferred), postsecondary nondegree award, or no formal education requirements for entry-level positions were considered. Jobs are ranked by their annual median salaries.
The top ten jobs all make more than the average Birmingham salary. These careers range from postmaster to commercial pilot.
