Defender picks up Huntsville Player of the Week for Week 9

The Week 9 Huntsville Player of the Week turned in a standout defensive performance as his team rolled to a 65-5 win.

Senior Tyler Sottolano of St. John Paul II intercepted three passes in the Falcons’ rout of D.A.R. at home. One of Sottolano’s thefts resulted in a pick-6 in SJP2′s second straight win. Sottolano ran away with the poll, earning 76 percent of the 4,203 votes cast.

Fyffe running back Logan Anderson finished second in balloting after running for 362 yards and five touchdowns in the third-ranked Red Devils’ 56-42 win over Pisgah.

Westminster Christian quarterback Brandon Musch was third in the voting after running for 216 yards and three scores and completing 10-of-12 throws for 95 yards and a touchdown in a 36-29 win over Priceville.

Voting for the Huntsville Football Player of the Week opens on Sundays during the season and runs through Wednesday. Nominees are determined from statistics submitted by coaches or official team statisticians before noon each Saturday.

In Week 9, more than 32,000 votes were cast across the three AL.com player of the week polls.
