Close to $100 million in new construction in last two weeks in Huntsville area

A Huntsville downtown hotel is beginning to rise. And work is beginning on a new Huntsville Utilities operations center.
The projects were the most expensive in Madison, Morgan and Limestone counties in the last two weeks, according to Southern Exposure Information. They were among six commercial projects exceeding $1 million in the area issued permits during that time, with five receiving permits last week.
New construction in the Huntsville area as a whole topped $98.8 million between Oct. 9-23. Huntsville issued 62 permits totaling $36.4 million. Decatur issued nine permits totaling $22.4 million. Athens issued 42 totaling almost $18.9 million. Madison issued 32 totaling almost $8 million. Priceville issued 12 totaling $3.9 million.
