Montgomery man charged with armed robbery of Huntsville mail carrier

A Montgomery man is facing federal charges of robbing a U.S. Postal Service carrier back in May.

Anthony Darryl Barber, Jr., 23, was arrested in Huntsville on Tuesday.

Barber’s arrest came after a three-count indictment issued back in July for robbery of a U.S. Postal carrier, unlawful possession of U.S. Postal Service keys, and brandishing a firearm during a violent crime.

U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and U.S. Postal Inspection Service Inspector-in-Charge Scott D. Fix, Houston Division, announced the arrest.

According to court documents, the robbery occurred in Madison County on May 3. Barber used a black Glock 27, Gen 5 .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol in the robbery.

U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigated the case along with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and Huntsville Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Davis Barlow is prosecuting the case.
