Irvington woman dies after car hits culvert, catches fire

An Irvington woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Mobile County Monday afternoon, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Mary M. Wescovich, 45, was driving a 2000 Toyota Avalon on Murray Hill Road, about four miles west of the Mobile city limits, when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a culvert and burst into flames.

First responders rendered aid and Wescovich was transported to University Hospital in Mobile, where she died of her injuries.

No additional details were released. ALEA says the accident remains under investigation.
