Class 7A Central-Phenix City moved back into a tie for first place in the AL.com Power 25 high school football rankings this week.

Patrick Nix’s Red Devils defeated rival Auburn 41-20 to improve to 8-0 on the season. They are once again tied with Class 6A Saraland for the top spot in the poll. The Spartans were idle last week. They return to action on Friday against Region 1 rival Theodore.

Central has outscored its opponents 354-89 this season. The closest game was a 28-18 win over Opelika on Sept. 15. Saraland has outscored its opponents 432-93 this season. After beating Tennessee power Lipscomb Academy 31-30 to open the season, the Spartans have won their other seven games by an average margin of 48 points. The closest game since the opener was a 39-point win over Blount (59-20).

The Power 25 Game of the Week this week features undefeated and reigning 4A champ Andalusia traveling to play undefeated Montgomery Catholic. The Power 25 ranks the top high school teams in Alabama regardless of classification.
