Alabama basketball is dealing with injuries, but according to head coach Nate Oats, those should be alleviated before the Crimson Tide opens the season vs. Morehead State on Nov. 6.

Oats gave an update on the statuses of Mo Wague and Mouhamed Dioubate while speaking at SEC Media Days in Mountain Brook on Wednesday.

“The both of them are on pace to be able to play in game one,” Oats said. “Both of them, the time frame was to get them healthy just in time for game one. We think they’ll both be there for game one.”

Wague transferred to Alabama from West Virginia this offseason, after Mountaineers players were given clearance to leave following former head coach Bob Huggins departure. Dioubate is entering his freshman season.

According to Oats, both had injury issues from before their time in Tuscaloosa.

“Both required procedures once they got to campus with previous injuries that we weren’t aware of,” Oats said. “Dioubate has been able to participate in some live things in practice. He’s still not going up and down live scrimmage. But he’s close. He had a knee issue. Wague had an issue with his foot. He’s still not doing anything live.”

Oats was also asked about the status of Latrell Wrightsell, who transferred to Alabama from Cal State Fullerton. He said the guard has had several issues throughout the offseason, in part due to how hard he’s been practicing.

“He’s had I think three different injuries that have kept him out of various times since he’s been here,” Oats said. “He’s practicing. He practiced today. Yeah, he should be available. Got a closed scrimmage. Should be available for that. Hopefully he’ll be available for the exhibition against Wake Forest.”
