Mobile officer to be on administrative duty after ‘incident’ at school: Police

A Mobile police officer is being placed on administrative duty following an “incident” at a charter school where he was working an extra job, the department said Tuesday night.

A Mobile police spokeswoman did not go into detail about what the “incident” was, but said a video was circulating on Facebook.

“The Mobile Police Department has just become aware of an incident involving an off-duty police officer working an extra job at 3725 Airport Boulevard, Accel Academy. As we gather more information about the facts of the incident, the officer will be placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation. Please note that this information is in response to a social media post circulating on Facebook, and no further details are available at this time,” said Cpl. Katrina Frazier.

Fox 10 said the video “appears to show an MPD officer taking down a girl outside of Accel Academy.” The station did not include the footage in its story.

The discipline against the officer comes day after another Mobile officer was placed on administrative leave after a video showed the officer beating a handcuffed man during an arrest last week.
