Gulf Shores man dies when motorcycle flips on I-10

A tire blowout led to a motorcycle overturning on Interstate 10 Sunday afternoon, killing a 56-year-old Gulf Shores man, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

ALEA says William L. Cooper Jr. was driving a 2011 Harley-Davidson motorcycle near mile marker 14 on I-10 inside the Mobile city limits about 1:15 p.m. Sunday when the motorcycle suffered “rear tire failure and overturned several times.”

Cooper was transported to Springhill Medical Center in Mobile, where he died of his injuries.

ALEA says the incident remains under investigation.
