Georgia grabs commitment from top in-state linebacker prospect

Reigning national champion Georgia grabbed a commitment from one of Alabama’s top juniors on Friday.

Chilton County linebacker Demarcus Riddick committed to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.

The 6-foot-2, 212-pound Riddick finished the season with 109 tackles, including 19 for a loss, and 7 sacks. He also had 11 QB hurries.

Riddick, a 4-star, also had offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma among others.

With Riddick’s announcement, the top three Alabama players in the Class of 2024 according to the 247 composite rankings are all committed.

Riddick is currently No. 2.

No. 1 Jaylen Mbakwe of Clay-Chalkville and No. 3 Perry Thompson of Foley, both wide receivers, are both committed to Alabama.

Chilton County finished 4-6 this season and missed the playoffs.

Georgia also has a commitment from one of the top Class of 2023 players in the state in Central-Phenix City’s DB AJ Harris.
