Want to see Billy Joel, Sting together in Tampa? How to get tickets

In what is being billed as a “one night only” performance, music legends Billy Joel and Sting will take the stage together at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa next Feb. 24.

The concert was announced at a Thursday news conference by the Tampa Sports Authority, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor noted the concert will bring millions of dollars in economic impact to the area.

“Not only are we known around the world for our Super Bowls and our sporting events, but now again this has put us on the national stage,” Castor said during the news conference.

According to Joel’s website, the February concert will be the first time the two music icons have performed together.

The 74-year-old Joel has sold more than 160 million records worldwide, ranking as the fourth best-selling solo artist ever. He has recorded 33 Top 40 hits, won six Grammy Awards — including the Grammy Legend Award. He has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and is a Kennedy Center Honors inductee. He also won a Tony Award for “Movin’ Out,” a Broadway musical based on his music.

The 72-year-old Sting, born Gordon Sumner in northeast England, was the frontman for British supergroup The Police from 1977 until its breakup in 1986. As both a member of The Police and as a solo artist, he has won 17 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, an Emmy and been nominated four times for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Like Joel, Sting is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (inducted with The Police in 2003), the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and a Kennedy Center honoree.

According to the Times, Sting last performed in Tampa in May 2022, while Joel has not performed there since February 2020 — although he and his daughters did attend the Taylor Swift show at Raymond James Stadium in April of this year.
