A California man was killed in a weekend crash at Barber Motorsports Park.

Authorities said 74-year-old Robert Eugene Aegerter was driving a motorcycle involved in an on-track wreck while participating in a race at the park.

The crash happened at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Aegerter, of Capitola, CA., was taken to UAB Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 1:49 a.m. Monday.

No additional details about the wreck were immediately available.

The park was hosting the 2023 Barber Vintage Festival over the weekend.
