Alabama NFL roundup: C.J. Mosley keeps climbing

New York Jets middle linebacker C.J. Mosley has a trend going in the 2023 NFL season.

In the Jets’ season-opener, Mosley made seven tackles. In the second game, he recorded nine tackles. In the third game, his tackle total reached 10. And in the fourth game, Mosley had 11 tackles.

On the fifth Sunday of the NFL’s 2023 season, Mosley kept climbing with 13 tackles in New York’s 31-21 victory over the Denver Broncos.

The former Theodore High School star also had two tackles for loss and one pass breakup in the game.

Since tackles for loss and passes defended became official statistics in 1999, only one other Jets player has recorded a game with at least 13 tackles, two tackles for loss and one pass breakup – and it happened last week.

Outside linebacker Quincy Williams, a former Wenonah High School standout, put up the numbers for New York on Oct. 1, but the Jets lost that game to the Kansas City Chiefs 23-20.

On Sunday, New York ended a three-game losing streak as Mosley made six of his tackles in the fourth quarter to reach his 13th game with at least 13 tackles in his NFL career.
