Auburn NFL roundup: Roger McCreary busy for Titans

Cornerback Roger McCreary had another busy game for the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

As a rookie last season, McCreary finished third on the Titans with 84 tackles, which ranked fifth among NFL cornerbacks.

Against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, McCreary made eight tackles to boost his total for the past four games to 30.

McCreary also recorded a sack and forced a fumble against Cincinnati, but the Bengals beat the Titans 23-16.

The sack was the second of McCreary’s career. He had the first two weeks ago against the Cleveland Browns.

The former Williamson High School standout recorded the third game since 1999, when forced fumbles became an official stat, for a Tennessee defensive back with at least eight tackles, one sack and one forced fumble. Former West Alabama standout Malcolm Butler did it in 2018 and safety Logan Ryan turned the trick in 2019. But the Titans won those games – 26-23 in overtime against the Philadelphia Eagles in Butler’s game and 27-23 over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Ryan’s.
