State NFL roundup: Alabama prep QB scores his first TD

As a former dual-threat quarterback at Park Crossing High School in Montgomery, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt knew what to do when he made the first regular-season interception of his NFL career on Sunday.

Taylor-Britt intercepted Arizona quarterback Joshua Dobbs on a second-and-10 throw from the Cardinals 1-yard line and returned it 11 yards for a touchdown in Cincinnati’s 34-20 victory.

Taylor-Britt’s first NFL touchdown put the Bengals in front 17-14 with 1:23 left in the first half.

Taylor-Britt joined Cincinnati as a second-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he started nine regular-season games as a rookie. In the playoffs last season, Taylor-Britt had an interception off Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen in the Bengals’ 27-10 victory on Jan. 22 as Cincinnati advanced to the AFC Championship Game.

Taylor-Britt made the transition from offense to defense during his college career at Nebraska.

In his fifth start of the 2023 season, Britt also had one tackle and broke up a pass.
