Five from Mobile: Local stories you might have missed last week

There were a number of significant local stories last week in the Mobile area. Here are five you might have missed:

· In our Sunday Q&A (today) Casi Callaway Mobile’s chief resilience officer, talks about how the city prepares to stay operational even in the face of disaster events.

· The Lede’s Margaret Kates was on board as the Carnival Spirit prepared to leave the Mobile dock for the first time, and brought you words and pictures of the event.

· Kates also reported how Mobile officials responded to a recent study ranking the port city the 10th worst in the nation for people with disabilities.

· Are you checking out the Lede College Football Picks contest? It’s published every Friday.

· In the Lede’s look at doctor shortages across the state, Kates told you about the likelihood of getting in to see a physician in fast-growing Baldwin County.

The Lede brings you a lot more local news, as well as state, national and world events worth reading about every single day. And each edition has a page designed to tell you how to navigate The Lede. It even has a cool YouTube video.

We’re working to make the Lede better and we want your input. Suggestions? Constructive criticism? Stories you’d like to see? Questions about your community? Something for us to look into that will make your life better? Send me a note at [email protected].
