The Alabama Crimson Tide appears to have found its identity, but is it enough?

That’s the question debated during Saturdays “College GameDay” as the panel made its weekly picks. Nick Saban’s Tide heads to College Station to play Texas A&M.

“I’m going Texas A&M,” Desmond Howard said. “I just think they are going to play so well at home. Defensively, they are going to create some turnovers. I’m not sure I can trust Jalen Milroe on the road, so I’m going with the Aggies.”

Pat McAfee, who has Saban as a weekly guest on his show, sees maturity in Alabama.

“I think Alabama learned a lot last week at Mississippi State about playing on the road,” he said. “I think Milroe grew up. I think the offense is a little bit better. Give me Alabama getting a big win on the road.”

Tampa quarterback and former Oklahoma Sooner Baker Mayfield, who was the guest picker Saturday, knows what that 12th man is all about in College Station.

“A&M at home is a tough one,” Mayfield explained. “Going to College Station, that 12th man gets loud. I got Texas A&M today. It’s going to be hard to go in there and win.”

Not so fast, my friend.

“Texas A&M hasn’t only allowed one touchdown in the last 12 quarters,” Lee Corso said. “Alabama close.”

Kirk Herbstreit appears to agree with the coach.

“Alabama’s found its new identity,” he said. “It’s old-school Nick Saban. It’s defense, field position. It’s turnover margin. It’s running the football and high percentage throws. Now, it looks great. Will it be enough on the road against this defense? It’s one of the best in the country in creating sacks and on third down. I think it’s going to be back and forth game. Bama close.”
