A woman was killed when she was hit by a vehicle in Birmingham Tuesday night.

The victim has not yet been identified, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said she was an adult white female.

The crash happened at 9:17 p.m. in the 800 block of Daniel Payne Drive.

Authorities said the woman was walking along the edge of the road when she was hit. The driver of the vehicle remained on site and called 911.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:34 p.m.

The Birmingham Police Department is investigating.
