HS volleyball update: Arab wins Marshall County Tournament title
Arab won seven matches last week to capture the Marshall County Tournament title.
Class 5A second-ranked Arab (35-7) beat Guntersville twice, Boaz, Albertville twice, Asbury and Scottsboro for the championship.

Laney Kelley led the attack with 53 kills and 3 aces, adding 5 blocks, 2 assists and 7 digs. Bennett Elrod had 7 aces, 34 kills, 12 assists and 50 digs and Sami Kate Hudson had 12 aces, 39 kills, 2 assists and 35 digs.
Millie Lackey ran the offense with 158 assists, adding 14 aces, 16 kills, 2 blocks, and 31 digs and Marissa Pope paced the defense with 77 digs, adding 3 kills and 15 assists.

Top-ranked Bob Jones (36-1) swept Huntsville and James Clemens in regular season play last week.
Kennedy Vaughn had 27 kills and 3 blocks, Eliza Tyrrell and 22 kills, 5 blocks, 10 digs and 3 aces, Riley Lovell had 54 assists, 15 digs and 6 aces and Meg Jarrett had 26 digs.
Second-ranked McGill-Toolen (23-7) beat Mary G. Montgomery and lost to Bayside.
Paris McQuirter had 18 kills and 2 blocks, Chelsea Daffin had 27 kills and 2 digs and Juliet Galla had 2 aces and 41 digs.

Ninth-ranked Vestavia Hills (20-10) beat Oak Mountain and Homewood.

Second-ranked Spanish Fort (39-6) won four matches, beating Baldwin County, St. Paul’s, Fairhope and Orange Beach.
Alexis Belarmino had 114 assists, 27 digs, 7 aces, 9 kills and 3 blocks, Reece Varden had 36 kills, 13 digs and 7 blocks, Delaney Clough had 58 digs, 9 assists, 4 aces and passed 2.42, Elyse McKinney had 52 digs, passed 2.3 and served 97 percent and Carlyn McAllister had 51 digs, 33 kills, 5 blocks and 2 aces, serving 97 percent.
Third-ranked Bayside Academy (34-6) beat Robertsdale and McGill-Toolen as Blakeley Robbins picked up career assist No. 4,000 during the McGill Toolen match. Robbins had 45 assists, 6 blocks and 4 aces for the week.
Seventh-ranked Buckhorn (29-14) was 2-1 with wins over Madison County and DAR and a loss to Hazel Green.
Addison Layne had 84 assists, 29 digs, 5 kills and 3 aces, Brooklynn Gonzalez had 34 kills and 46 digs and Lucy Means had 61 digs and 3 aces.
Eighth-ranked Pelham (17-9) was 3-1 with wins over Briarwood, Hartselle and Hazel Green and a loss to Mountain Brook.

Homewood (11-18) was 2-2 with wins over Helena and Parker and losing to Spain Park and Vestavia Hills.
Mira McCool led the Patriots with 23 digs, 19 kills (500-plus career kills), 8 aces and 3 blocks while Ellis McCool added 20 kills, 8 digs, 6 aces and 5 blocks and Kamryn Coleman had 63 assists, 30 digs, 9 aces, 7 blocks and 4 kills.
John Carroll beat Gardendale and lost to Briarwood.
Meredith Davis had 8 digs and surpassed 500 career digs, Mady Kirkpatrick had 19 kills and 5 aces, Kaitlin Gilchrist had 8 kills, 13 aces and 3 blocks and Izzy Marino had 50 assists.
Saint James (21-5) won four matches, beating Elmore County, Carver-Montgomery, LAMP and Park Crossing.

Top-ranked Montgomery Academy (32-5) beat Demopolis and Selma in area matches.
Addi Vinson had 46 assists and 14 digs, Isabella Johnson had 17 kills and 3 blocks, Elle McBride had 9 kills and 8 digs and Emmy Sorrell had 17 digs.
Sixth-ranked Lawrence County (30-13) won 11 matches last week, including six wins to capture Danville’s Tournament of Champions. The Red Devils beat Good Hope, Priceville, Russellville, Deshler and Brooks in regular season play then downed Guntersville, DAR, Donoho, West Point, Danville and Madison County for the tournament title.
Kylie Graham had 146 assists, 32 kills and 40 digs, Bentlee Cross had 10 aces, 58 kills and 56 digs and Ava Boyll had 9 aces, 129 kills and 83 digs.
Boaz (23-21) was 5-5 last week with wins over Douglas, Fyffe, Montevallo, Gadsden City and Westminster-Oak Mountain and losses to Guntersville, Albertville, Arab, DAR and Plainview.
Coach Shyna Cahill earned career win No. 100 against Montevallo and currently has 101 wins.
CLASS 4A
Second-ranked Trinity (16-9) lost 3-1 to Montgomery Catholic.
Isabel Hill set the school record for career digs in the third set with 31 total digs for the match, Her 1,569 career digs surpassed Drue Walker’s 1,559. She also had 5 assists and passed 2.18 in serve receive on 33 attempts in the match.
Fourth-ranked DAR (26-14) was 8-5 with wins against Asbury, Brindlee Mountain, Douglas, Boaz, Donoho twice, Meek and East Lawrence and losing to Guntersville twice, Buckhorn and Lawrence County.
Emily Reeves had 80 kills and 139 digs and Ruby Tielking had 52 kills and 11 blocks.
Reaching career milestones this season are Reeves with 1,204 digs and 850 kills, Tana Osborne with 1,313 digs, Chloe Walker with 1,177 assists and 543 kills and Ansley Barnes with 1,000 assists.
Fifth-ranked Madison County (35-11) was 8-2 with regular season wins against Tanner, Oneonta and Good Hope and a loss to Buckhorn. The Tigers won to the Gold Bracket title match of Danville’s Tournament of Champions, beating Cold Springs, West Point, Winston County, Guntersville and Prattville Christian before losing to Lawrence County.
Allison Yeary had 129 digs while Shelby Hill had 175 attacks with 65 kills and 76 digs, Laylah Sanders had 15 aces, 183 attacks with 56 kills and 66 digs, Ava Gustafson had 129 attacks with 68 kills and 64 blocks, Addy Gustafson had 181 assists and 42 digs and Carleigh Lanford had 148 attacks with 53 kills.
New Hope (17-14) was 2-1 with wins over St. John Paul II and Fayetteville and a loss to Sparkman.
Malaina Could had 31 kills, 13 assists and 20 digs and Rylee Jo Harbin had 40 digs.
West Morgan (19-16) was 6-3 last week with a win against East Lawrence in regular season play and tournament wins over Decatur Heritage, Haleyville, Athens Bible, Austin and Addison to capture the West Morgan Invitational. The Rebels lost to Austin, Brewer and Addison in pool play.
Brooklyn Hunt had 61 kills, Victoria Parrish had 60 kills and Kylei Russell had 147 assists.
CLASS 3A
Top-ranked Plainview (35-5) was 9-1 last week with wins against Collinsville, Sylvania, Sardis, Crossville, Valley Head, Boaz, Oxford twice, Lexington and Lincoln and a loss to Huntsville.
Ali Price had 7 aces, 226 assists and 35 digs, Faith Odom had 12 aces, 56 kills and 43 digs, Aubriella Hairston had 52 kills and 23 blocks, Chloe Hatch had 44 kills, 14 blocks and 59 digs, Kami Sanders had 8 aces, 48 kills, 9 blocks and 54 digs and Zanna Ferguson had 59 digs.
Second-ranked Mobile Christian (24-3) won three matches, beating W.S. Neal, Ocean Springs (Miss.) and UMS-Wright.

Sixth-ranked Sand Rock (27-14) was 4-2 with a regular season win against Gaston and beating Gaylesville, Cedar Bluff and Cherokee County and losing to Cherokee County and Spring Garden in the Cherokee County Tournament.
Katelyn St.Clair had 86 kills, 31 digs and 10 aces. She became the school’s all-time leader in career kills with 1,628, coming in the win over Cherokee County and surpassing Jennifer Campbell, who held the record of 1,615 since 2009.
Rylin St.Clair had 126 assists, surpassing 2,000 career assists )2.006 total), adding 35 digs and 2 aces and Chloe Stephens had 76 digs and 5 aces.
Cornerstone Schools (20-4) was 5-2 last week with regular season wins over Indian Springs, Altamont and Holy Family and beating Sumiton and Parker and losing to twice in the McAdory Tournament.
Kemberly Roscoe had 43 kills and 19 blocks, Kye Fincher had 27 kills and 18 blocks, Milia Skanes had 35 kills, 11 blocks and 30 digs, Lauren Dunning had 24 kills, 18 assists and 13 blocks and Keriyana Prince had 97 assists, 16 kills, 10 blocks and 15 digs.
Westminster-Oak Mountain (12-10) was 4-2 with wins over Vincent twice, Montevallo and Gadsden City and losses to Boaz and Oneonta.

Top-ranked Addison (29-7) was 6-1 with wins over Hartselle, Haleyville twice, Athens Bible, West Morgan and St. John Paul’s II and losing to host West Morgan in the championship of its invitational tournament.
Hadley Butler had 20 kills, 51 digs, 12 aces, 4 blocks and 122 assists, Dacey Baker had 45 kills, 60 digs and 5 aces, Katie Barrett had 44 kills, 15 blocks, 26 digs and 12 aces and Bailee Ory had 74 digs and 7 aces.
Sixth-ranked University Charter (22-4) beat Leroy, Millry, Thomasville and Keith and lost to Washington County.
Ella Grace Larkin had 10 aces, 28 kills and 32 digs, Brinkli Wood had 11 aces, 31 kills and 24 digs and Maddy Gullahorn had 10 aces, 40 kills and 5 blocks.
Eighth-ranked Covenant Christian (15-15) lost to Wilson and Rogers.
Zoe Griffin had 15 kills and 12 digs, Sierra Cook had 15 digs and 28 assists, Saydee Coan had 10 kills and 15 digs and Ella Estave had 24 digs. Coach Alyson Estave recently surpassed 100 career wins.
Athens Bible (9-18) was 3-2 with regular season wins over Valley Head and Woodville and beating Haleyville and losing to West Morgan and Addison in the West Morgan Tournament.
Claire Holt had 12 digs, 13 kills, 6 blocks and 2 aces against Valley Head while Brooke Blakely had 7 kills and Anna Beth Burns had 24 assists.
Holt had 10 digs, 15 kills, 5 blocks and 2 aces against Woodville while Blakely had 8 kills and Burns had 26 assists.
Holt had 11 kills, 10 blocks and 2 aces in the tournament and Burns had 23 assists.
AISA
Top-ranked Edgewood Academy (28-0) won six matches last week, including capturing the title of its Edgewood Invitational tournament. The Wildcats beat Abbeville Christian and Autauga Academy in regular season matches then downed Macon East-B, Chambers Academy, Southern Academy and Glenwood School in the tournament.
Lindsey Brown had 34 kills, 26 aces and 50 assists, Madison Martin had 31 kills, 12 blocks and 5 aces and Katelynn Shaner had 10 aces, 18 digs and 10 assists.
Second-ranked Hooper Academy (16-2) was 5-1 with wins over Glenwood, Lee-Scott, Southern, Macon-East B team and lost to Glenwood.
Libby Bressler had 113 assists, 23 digs and 5 aces, Grace Seale had 47 kills, surpassing the 1,000 career mark, adding 9 aces and 38 digs, Annie Bressler had 40 kills, 9 aces, 31 digs and 2 blocks and Kaylee Midkiff had 32 kills, 20 blocks and 10 digs.
Third-ranked Glenwood (15-5) lost to Hooper and beat Hooper and Chambers as Olivia Slocumb had 16 aces, 104 assists and 41 digs.
