Check out the nominees for the Cunningham Bounds Coastal Alabama Football Player of the Week for Week 6 of the 2023 high school football season.
Coaches can submit statistics following their games on Friday night or nominate players before noon each Saturday.
Nominations must come from a coach or official team statistician. They can be emailed to [email protected].
Voting is open until Wednesday morning. The winner will be announced on AL.com on Thursday.
Here are this week’s nominees:
Braxton Clark, Theodore: Clark led Theodore with 29 runs for 191 yards in a 16-10 win over Class 7A Opelika. Clark carried it six straight times on the Bobcats’ decisive TD drive.
Landon Everett, Gulf Shores: Everett had three solo tackles, three assists and two tackles for a loss as the Dolphins stayed undefeated Thursday with a win over Murphy.
Anthony Frasier, St. Paul’s: Frasier rushed for 205 yards and a touchdown as St. Paul’s built a 23-0 halftime lead on Faith Academy and rolled to a 40-7 win. He carried the ball 20 times and scored on a 55-yard run.
Damien Gatson, Mobile Christian: Gatson completed 12-of-20 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns, including one for 70 yards to Carson Cooper and 77 yards to Aaron Rogers, in a win at Orange Beach.
Brady Harrison, Elberta: Harrison rushed for four touchdowns as Elberta won its second straight game, beating Northview, Fla. Harrison also was 8-of-14 passing for 189 yards.
Jayvion Hawthorne, Mary G. Montgomery: Hawthorne rushed for 113 yards and two TDs on 10 carries as the Vikings stayed undefeated with a non-region game at Baldwin County.
KJ Lacey, Saraland: The Texas commit completed 14-of-18 passes for 223 and two touchdowns in the top-ranked Spartans’ 70-20 win over Foley. Lacey’s one rush went for a 1-yard touchdown.
Aaron May, Washington County: May had 12 carries for 244 yards and two touchdowns in WCHS’s 40-13 win over Fruitdale.
Zaylon McMillian, Excel: McMillian had 15 carries for 178 yards and four rushing touchdowns for Excel in a 35-12 win over rival J.U. Blacksher.
Andrew Murchison, McGill-Toolen: Murchison threw went 9-for-13 for 194 yards and three touchdowns as the Yellow Jackets held off St. Michael 35-31.
Jamarion Osborne, Chickasaw: Osborne accounted for three touchdowns as Chickasaw won its third straight game, beating McIntosh. Osborne rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries and also had an 86-yard TD reception. On defense, he had three tackles for a loss and two pass breakups.
Gunner Rivers, St. Michael: Rivers was 24-for-39 for 278 passing yards and three touchdowns in the Cardinals’ close loss to McGill-Toolen.
Aaden Shamburger, Spanish Fort: Shamburger completed 20-of-25 for 244 yards and three touchdowns as the Toros rallied from a 27-7 deficit to beat Daphne 35-27.
