Alabama football: Saban gives injury report on Lawson and Ferguson
Alabama football could be without a major contributor on both offense and defense when it faces Mississippi State on Saturday. Head coach Nick Saban said Wednesday that it’s still unclear whether inside linebacker Deontae Lawson and guard Terrence Ferguson will play.
Saban said both players were still on the shelf as of Wednesday.
“Both guys were unable to practice today,” Saban said. “So that would put them in the category of very questionable.
Lawson went down injured in the second quarter of Alabama’s Saturday win over Ole Miss. He walked off the field under his own power but missed the rest of the game.
After the game, Saban said Lawson had a sprained ankle.
“He’s gonna be day-to-day,” Saban said Saturday. “It’s a pretty good one so nobody knows exactly how long it will take for him to respond, so that’s all I can tell you about that one.”
Ferguson represents key depth on the line for the Crimson Tide. He was playing in place of Darrian Dalcourt, who later returned to the game, when he went down, with what appeared to be a leg injury.
He went to the locker room and did not reenter the game.
Alabama and Mississippi State are scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. Saturday in Starkville. The game will be aired on ESPN.
