Man found shot to death beside vehicle in east Birmingham, police say
A man was found shot to death lying in an east Birmingham roadway after neighbors called police when they heard gunfire early Monday evening, authorities said.
East Precinct officers responded to the 4200 block of 41st Avenue North around 5:15 p.m. Monday, said Sgt. Laquitta Wade.
Officers found the victim — and adult male — lying in the roadway and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Wade said.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim dead.
The preliminary investigation revealed nearby residents observed shots.
“When they came to the door they found the male lying in the roadway next to a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” Wade said.
Witnesses did not see who fired the shots; no suspects were in custody as of early Monday evening.
Anyone with information on the deadly shooting was asked to call Birmingham police at 205-254-1765. Those with information who wish to remain anonymous were encourage to call Crimestoppers at 205-254-7777.
