Florence police say one person was injured Monday morning when a glider crashed near Florence High School.

Police received a call around 8 a.m. of a “suspicious aircraft” flying around the school.

School resource officers and patrol officers responded to the high school.

At about 8:15 a.m., the glider crashed near 4184 Rushton St., police said.

Firefighters, police, and medical personnel responded, and the man inside the glider was transported by helicopter to receive medical care.

Police are investigating.
