AL.comâs SEC football players of the week for Week 4
Here are AL.com’s SEC football players of the week for Week 4 of the 2023 season:
Offense
Carson Beck, QB, Georgia — Beck, a junior from Jacksonville, Fla., completed 22 of 32 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for a 1-yard touchdown, in a 49-21 victory over UAB that kept the Bulldogs perfect at 4-0 this season.
Defense
Maxwell Hairston, DB, Kentucky — Hairston, a sophomore from West Bloomfield, Mich., made Wildcats history by returning two interceptions for touchdowns in a 45-28 win at Vanderbilt. Hairston scored on returns of 29 and 54 yards, and also totaled four tackles and three pass breakups.
Special teams
Trey Smack, PK, Florida — Smack, a sophomore from Severna Park, Md., went 5-for-5 on field goals — including a 54-yarder — in a 22-7 victory over Charlotte. He was good on kicks of 27, 23, 36 and 23 yards, made his only extra point attempt, and recorded touchbacks on all seven kickoffs.
