The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a Sunday night shooting that left a 24-year-old man dead.

The victim has been identified as Demetrius Damon Windham, Jr.

The shooting happened at 7:15 p.m. in the 3900 block of Northwood Lake Drive West.

Northport police responded to the shooting in the 3900 Block of Northwood Lake Drive West and found Windham dead.

“The Violent Crimes Unit responded and has assumed the investigation. At this time the investigation is still active,” a VCU statement read.

Anyone who saw any suspicious individuals or vehicles in the area of Northwood Lake Drive West between the Northwood Lake spillway area and Highway 69 around that time are asked to contact the VCU at 205-464-8690.
