Signed by Baltimore for its practice squad on Wednesday, running back Kenyan Drake will be eligible to play when the Ravens take on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Each NFL team is allowed to elevate two practice-squad players to active status for each game, and Baltimore used one of its elevations for Sunday on the former Alabama ball-carrier.

While Drake could make his 2023 season debut on Sunday, former Hoover High School standout Jeremiah Moon could make his NFL debut in the same game.

The Ravens signed Moon from their practice squad to their active roster on Saturday.

Moon spent the 2022 season on Baltimore’s practice squad after catching on with the Ravens as an undrafted rookie from Florida.

Baltimore’s injury report indicates that seven players will miss Sunday’s game, including running back Justice Hill with a foot injury and linebacker Odafe Oweh with an ankle injury. The Ravens already had lost running back J.K. Dobbins to a season-ending injury on Sept. 10.

Drake ran for 482 yards and four touchdowns on 109 carries and caught 17 passes for 89 yards and one touchdown in 12 games, with five starts, for Baltimore last season. Drake signed with the Colts as a free agent after his only season with the Ravens but was released on Aug. 27 as the Colts cut their preseason roster to the regular-season limit of 53 players.

This is Drake’s eighth NFL season. He has run for 3,866 yards and 33 touchdowns on 867 carries in 101 NFL regular-season games. He also has 216 receptions for 1,624 yards and eight touchdowns.

Also elevated on Saturday was wide receiver Montrell Washington by the Kansas City Chiefs. The former Samford standout joined Kansas City’s practice squad after being released by the Denver Broncos at the end of the preseason.

A fifth-round draft choice of the Broncos in 2022, Washington had four receptions for 2 yards, 30 yards on five rushing attempts, an 8.5-yard average on 32 punt returns and an 18.9-yard average on 18 kickoff returns as a rookie.

In another Saturday transaction involving a player with Alabama football roots, rookie safety A.J. Finley (St. Paul’s Episcopal) was waived by the Los Angeles Chargers. Finley had made the NFL team’s regular-season roster as an undrafted rookie from Ole Miss.
