Alabama commit Sterling Dixon Jr. left Spanish Fort’s 8-3 road win over Theodore on Friday night due to injury.

Toros coach Chase Smith told AL.com late Friday night that it was a shoulder injury. Sterling Dixon Sr., Dixon’s father, told AL.com the linebacker would likely have an MRI next week. His status for next week’s game against rival Daphne is not known.

The reigning Class 3A Lineman of the Year missed most of his sophomore season at Mobile Christian with a labrum injury.

The 6-foot-3, 211-pound linebacker left Friday’s game once at Theodore, had his shoulder wrapped and then re-entered the game.

When he left the second time, he didn’t return.

As a junior at Mobile Christian, Dixon set several school records, finishing with 172 tackles and 18 sacks. He also had 39 tackles for a loss. He transferred to Spanish Fort in August.

He entered this week with 53 tackles, seven tackles for a loss and three sacks.

Dixon was No. 7 on AL.com’s A-List of top senior recruits in the state of Alabama.
