Coachspeak: “Helena is a physical football team on both sides of the ball, with no weaknesses. We didn’t match their physicality early in the game. I’m proud of our guys for not giving up. We just have to do better, and that starts with me.” – Pelham coach Mike Vickery

“This senior class never lost to Pelham and I’m proud of that.” – Busby

Looking ahead: Helena has gotten off to promising starts in each of the last two years, only to struggle later in the season. The Huskies lost three straight to end 2022, which kept them out of the playoffs, after ending the 2021 season with two straight losses.

“We have to stay focused because we haven’t finished like we wanted to (in) the last few years,” Busby said. “Hopefully they learned from that and we can finish this season strong.”

What’s next?: Pelham plays Chelsea at home next week, while Helena is at Jackson-Olin.
