Ronnie Marks is the mayor of the third largest city in the Huntsville metro, which is also one of the fastest growing cities in Alabama.

Yet you will not find him among the city of Athens’ highest paid employees.

His salary of $71,500 is not far above that of the average worker in the Huntsville metro, which includes both Madison and Limestone counties. The average worker in the Huntsville metro area makes $69,235 a year according to the most recent data from the Alabama Department of Labor.

No member of the city council is in the top 10 either. They are paid $13,200 a year (or $1,100 a month).

The top 10 employees make just short of $1.3 million.
