Now that more than 19,000 west Mobile residents have joined the city of Mobile, city services are beginning for those who lived in previously unincorporated territory.

Last month, the Mobile City Council authorized a three-year, $1.5 million per year contract with A1 McDuffie Sanitation for trash and garbage collection in the newly annexed areas. Those services are set to begin next month.

The city says there will be no change to garbage and trash pickup for mobile residents who were within city limits prior to the annexation referendum.
