The top ten highest paid employees working for the city of Birmingham make, on average, 4-5x more each year than other Birmingham workers.

The top five highest paid employees either work in the mayor’s office or with the city council, making anywhere from $194,039-$202,648 annually.

The top ten highest paid city employees for 2023 are the same as last year’s according to a previous article from The Birmingham Times, but all ten received raises totaling anywhere between $8,000-$10,000.

Birmingham Public Information Officer Marie Sutton did not clarify if these raises were regular annual raises or cost of living adjustments by press time.

According to the city’s salary schedule (available at regular.pdf (pbjcal.org)), city employees can receive pay raises for thousands of dollars each additional year they stay on staff depending on their level of employment.
