An investigation is underway after a man was found fatally shot inside his wrecked vehicle in Forestdale.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday to the 1700 block of Huitt Street.

A resident called 911 to reported someone had wrecked in the front yard, said Lt. Joni Money. The homeowner went out to check on the driver and found that he’d been shot.

Medics pronounced the victim dead on the scene.

The victim’s name has not yet been released, but Money said he was 57 years old.

Authorities have not disclosed where the shooting took may have taken place. No arrests have been announced.
