Alabama man held on $1 million bond in murder of missing man

Marshall County authorities have charged an Albertville man with murder in connection with the death of a man who was reportedly missing for about a month.

Sheriff Phil Sims today said Christopher Stracener was served with a warrant for the murder of James Tracy Denson on Oct. 24.

Stracener, 50, has been in the Marshall County Jail since Sept. 8, according to jail records. He faces charges of murder, shooting into an occupied building, buying and selling stolen property, and a bond revocation.

In all, he is being held on a $1.035 million bond.

Denson’s remains were discovered near the Town of Susan Moore Sept. 30. Denson was last seen alive Aug. 6 in Guntersville and reported missing Sept. 2.

Authorities at the time did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding Denson’s death.
