Philadelphia Eagles replace former Auburn punter
The Philadelphia Eagles made a change at punter on Monday, when the NFL team released Arryn Siposs from its practice squad and signed Braden Mann to take his spot.
Siposs had been Philadelphia’s punter for the past two seasons and the first two games of the 2023 campaign.

“We thought Arryn did a job in training camp and was growing,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said on Monday, “so we felt like we were ready to go into the season with Arryn in there. And after two weeks, we decided we wanted to make a change.
“Arryn’s been a great teammate to his teammates. He’s been spot-on as a holder. Right now at this particular time, we just thought what the best interests for the team is to move forward with Braden.”
In Philadelphia’s first two games this season, Siposs has averaged 43.4 yards on eight punts, with a net of 38.4 yards.
Mann was the New York Jets’ punter for the previous three seasons, during which he averaged 45.4 yards on 206 punts with a net of 39.3 yards.
Over the previous two seasons, Siposs averaged 44.7 yards on 99 punts, with a net of 39.1 yards.
Siposs played for Auburn in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, when he averaged 44.0 yards on 117 punts.
Mann also played in the SEC, and he set the NCAA FBS single-season record of 51.0 yards per punt with Texas A&M in 2018.
Siposs spent his first NFL campaign on the Detroit Lions’ practice squad behind Jack Fox, the NFC’s Pro Bowl punter in 2020, before joining the Eagles in 2021.
Last season, Siposs sustained an ankle injury while running with the football after a blocked punt in a 48-22 victory over the New York Giants on Dec. 11. He missed the final four regular-season games and two playoff contests.
Siposs came off injured reserve the day before Super Bowl LVII, and Philadelphia chose him to punt in the NFL championship game instead of Brett Kern, who had handled the job during Siposs’ absence.
During the Eagles’ 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Siposs had a 38-yard punt that former Blount High School star Kadarius Toney returned 65 yards to the Eagles 5-yard line. The longest punt return in Super Bowl history set up a touchdown that gave the Chiefs a 35-27 lead with 9:22 to play.
On Aug. 28, Philadelphia waived Siposs when it reduced its preseason roster to the regular-season limit of 53 players. When the punter cleared waivers, the Eagles signed Siposs for the practice squad and had elevated him to active status for each of their first two games this season.
