Korean chicken franchise targeting 5 Alabama locations in 2024

Korean chicken franchise Bonchon plans to open five new locations in Alabama, beginning next year.

The announcement comes as the company is planning expansions into several areas, including Arizona, Illinois, Georgia and Minnesota. The company did not immediately reveal where these locations will be, or when they plan to open.

Bonchon specializes in Korean double-fried chicken, Asian fusion food and Korean specialties. Menu items include Japchae, a sweet and savory dish of stir-fried glass noodles and vegetables; Bulgogi, thinly sliced ribeye marinated in sauce, served with mushrooms, scallions, and onions, and fried pork and vegetable potstickers.

Founded in South Korea in 2002, Bonchon is Korean for “my hometown.” It currently has more than 114 U.S. restaurants in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. It also has more than 370 international locations.
