Kareem Jackson ejected from NFL game for end-zone hit

A week after his hit on Jakobi Meyers left the Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver with a concussion, safety Kareem Jackson was ejected from the Denver Broncos’ game on Sunday for a hit on another receiver.

On fourth-and-goal at the Denver 4-yard line late in the first half, Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell connected with tight end Logan Thomas coming across the end zone. Coming from the other direction, Jackson launched himself high and caught Thomas in the facemask with his forearm and right shoulder pad.

Thomas held on to the football but was injured on the play, and Jackson was disqualified from further participation. Thomas was being evaluated for a concussion and ruled out for the remainder of the game.

The NFL announced on Saturday that Jackson had been fined $14,819 for the unnecessary-roughness penalty that he incurred for his hit on Meyers. Meyers has not practice since the game and missed the Raiders’ contest against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

In his 14th NFL season, Jackson played in his 195th regular-season game and made his 187th NFL start on Sunday. Among the former Alabama players who have appeared in the NFL, Jackson ranks third in starts and sixth in games.

The only Alabama alumni with more NFL regular-season starts than Jackson are linebacker Cornelius Bennett with 204 and tight end Ozzie Newsome with 191.

Former Crimson Tide players who have appeared in more NFL regular-season games than Jackson are punter Chris Mohr with 239, tight end Howard Cross with 206, Bennett with 206, Newsome with 198 and quarterback Bart Starr with 196.
