Check out the nominees for the Cunningham Bounds Coastal Alabama Football Player of the Week for Week 4 of the 2023 high school football season.
Coaches can submit statistics following their games on Friday night or nominate players before noon each Saturday.
Nominations must come from a coach or official team statistician. They can be emailed to [email protected].

Voting is open until Wednesday morning. The winner will be announced on AL.com on Thursday.
Here are this week’s nominees:
Justin Adams, Citronelle: Adams accounted for three touchdowns, including a 7-yard scoring run in overtime, as visiting Citronelle took a 19-13 win over host 7A Alma Bryant.
Kennedy “KJ” Austin, Satsuma: Austin had 17 tackles (six solo and 11 assists) to go with a tackle for a loss and a fumble recovery in the Gators’ win at Orange Beach.
Larry Boone-Weaver, Chickasaw: Boone-Weaver rushed for 154 yards and four touchdowns as Chickasaw earned its first win of the season by beating J.U. Blacksher. Boone-Weaver carried the ball 16 times. He also had two receptions for 11 yards and finished with 12 tackles on defense, including a tackle on the final play of the game to secure the win.
Bryce Cain, Baker: The Auburn WR commit caught four passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns in the Hornets’ 51-44 victory over Foley.
Ezavier Crowell, Jackson: The freshman ran for 153 yards on 15 carries and scored on runs of 40 and 26 yards in a win over T.R. Miller.
Sammy Dunn, Bayside Academy: Dunn threw for 259 yards and five touchdowns as the Admirals improved to 4-0 with a win over Wilcox Central. He was 12-of-16 overall.
Jax Fillmore, Flomaton: Fillmore rushed for 258 yards and four touchdowns on 32 carries in the Hurricanes’ win over Cottage Hill. He also had two receptions for 38 yards and a score, finishing with 296 yards and five total touchdowns.
Damien Gatson, Mobile Christian: Gatson helped keep Mobile Christian undefeated, throwing for 237 yards and three touchdowns in a 55-0 win over Excel. Gatson was 16-of-19 overall.
Tate Johnston, St. Paul’s: Johnston rushed for 68 yards on six carries, threw one pass for seven yards and also had three receptions for 53 yards in the Saints’ 24-8 win over Murphy on Thursday.
Brody Jones, St. Michael: Jones had eight receptions for 159 yards and three touchdowns in the Cardinals’ road win at Escambia County.
Jamar Malone, Daphne: The quarterback passed for 323 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 48 yards and two scores in the Trojans’ Class 7A, Region 1 win at Davidson.
Kolton Nero, Foley: Nero continued his torrid rushing pace even in a Lions loss. He ran for 276 yards and four scores on 27 carries in a loss to Baker. He also caught two passes for 24 yards.
Brandon Purifoy, Vigor: Purifoy had 15 tackles, two tackles for a loss, an interception and returned a fumble 95 yards for a score in a 12-0 victory over Williamson.
Cole Ulrich, Elberta: Ulrich had three interceptions, six tackles and 95 yards receiving as Elberta picked up Win No. 1 for the year by beating LeFlore. Ulrich also had a receiving TD.
Zion Williams, Saraland: Williams played a key role in a pair of special teams plays in the Spartans’ rout of Spanish Fort. He returned one blocked punt 30 yards for a scored and blocked another that teammate Jamison Curtis returned for a TD.
