Watch SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch space defense satellites

SpaceX successfully launched its first Falcon Heavy rocket since 2019 today lifting a national security payload into space.

The big rocket launched on schedule from Kennedy Space Center in Florida shortly after 8:40 a.m. CDT in a liftoff live streamed on the SpaceX website.

It was the third launch of the Falcon Heavy. The central core was not recovered, but SpaceX cameras showed the successful landing of the two side boosters for reuse. That marked the 150th and 151st recovery of the boosters.

The launch was for the U.S. Space Force. It is expected to deploy two payloads directly into orbit including a microsatellite.
