Auburn Football: Pritchett, Kaufman out against Samford
Auburn will be thin at cornerback with both Nehemiah Pritchett and Donovan Kaufman out against Samford.
For the second straight week, Pritchett warmed up in pads before going back into the locker room and changing into sweats. He has not played for Auburn this season.
In a practice period open to reporters before UMass, Pritchett was seen with a heavily wrapped left ankle.
Kaufman was evaluated for a concussion after Auburn’s win over Cal. Auburn has not confirmed the results of those tests, but he will not play against Samford. He came out for warm-ups wearing sweatpants.
Auburn announced breakout freshman cornerback Kayin Lee will start as a result of the injuries.
Auburn appears to be getting back cornerback J.D. Rhym, who has not yet played this season. He warmed up in pads. So did wide receiver Nick Mardner, who also was out each of the first two games.
Linebacker Larry Nixon III, who picked up an injury on the hand he had wrist surgery on over the offseason, warmed up in pads as well.
Linebacker Austin Keys will also not play as expected, two weeks removed from his thumb surgery.
