Replay down to start 2nd half of Alabama vs. USF after lightning delay

Replay was down at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa to start the second half of Alabama football’s Saturday matchup with South Florida. The announcement came after the halftime break.

With 9:52 left in the third quarter, the referees announced replay had returned. However, it only had three cameras available for use.

The problem was one of a few camera-related issues throughout the game. The ABC broadcast was impacted by a weather delay, caused by lightning in Tampa.

The game was delayed 52 minutes in the second quarter due to the lightning strikes within eight miles of the stadium. When the game returned, ABC did not return all of its camera operators to their posts, causing the game to mostly be shown from an end zone view.

Some Alabama fans might have preferred the angle obstructing as much of the field as possible. The Crimson Tide struggled against the Bulls of the American Athletic Conference, falling behind early before tying the score at three before halftime.

Tyler Buchner started at quarterback for the Crimson Tide but was pulled in the second quarter. Ty Simpson took over the position and led the team on its first drive of the second half.

The game, still underway, is being broadcasted on ABC.
