One person was killed and another injured in a head-on crash Saturday in Jefferson County.

The wreck happened about 10:45 a.m. on Taylor’s Ferry Road near Cross Creek Way.

Sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money said a Chevrolet Trail Blazer and a GMC Sierra reportedly collided in the eastbound lane of Taylor’s Ferry Road.

The adult male driver of the Trail Blazer was pronounced dead at the scene. The adult female driver of the Sierra was transported to UAB Hospital with unspecified injuries.

There were no additional occupants in either vehicle.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is conducting an investigation into the cause and circumstances surrounding the crash.
