NFL Week 2 betting odds: Expert player prop picks for Tua Tagovailoa, Josh Jacobs, and Derrick Henry
Tua Tagovailoa over 275 passing yards (+105 or better)
The Miami Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa put on a clinic in Week 1, beating the Los Angeles Chargers 36-34. Tua was the MVP of the game with 466 yards and three touchdowns, and 215 yards went to four-time All-Pro Tyreek Hill.
Hill’s superb hands and speed make him a QB’s best friend. Last year, when Tagovailoa and Hill faced the New England Patriots, Tua threw for 270 yards, and Hill accounted for 94 yards.
This was Mike McDaniel’s first regular season game as an NFL head coach, and Miami’s offense has improved tenfold since then. Expect Tua to regress in Week 2 because New England’s defense is superior to the Chargers’, but Tagovailoa will still eclipse 275 passing yards.
Josh Jacobs over 68.5 rushing yards (-125 or better)
Josh Jacobs had a rough go of it in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. But Denver’s rushing defense was top 10 in the NFL a season ago, allowing 109 yards per game.
The Las Vegas Raiders now face a Buffalo Bills defense that was porous vs. the New York Jets. Gang Green ball carriers gashed the Bills for 172 yards, and Breece Hall led the charge with 127 yards on just 10 touches.
Expect Jacobs to rebound in Week 2 against a Buffalo defense that will struggle to control the line of scrimmage. The Raiders’ lack of RB depth will provide plenty of action for Jacobs.
Derrick Henry over 79.5 rushing yards (-115 or better)
King Henry’s Week 1 output vs. the New Orleans Saints was disappointing. Derrick Henry ran for 63 yards but only received 15 handoffs. Instead of pounding the rock with the three-time Pro Bowler, the Titans opted to air it out 34 times with Ryan Tannehill.
Tannehill is a serviceable QB, but Tennesse won’t win many games with the former Texas A&M Aggie slinging the rock that many times. Anticipate Henry to get a lot more work in Week 2 vs. the Los Angeles Chargers.
LA did an excellent job limiting the Miami Dolphins to 70 rushing yards in its season opener, but Miami’s rushing attack is inferior to Tennessee’s. The 2022 Chargers allowed 145 rushing yards per game, the fifth-most in the league.
