Saban asked about Trent Richardson’s criticism; Here’s what former Alabama RB said

Nick Saban was asked Thursday his thoughts on former Alabama football players criticism of the team in wake of the Crimson Tide’s 34-24 loss to Texas on Saturday night.

Trent Richardson was specifically cited when the question was asked, but what did the former Alabama running back say?

Richardson, who spoke with WVTM13, said former Tide players know what he is talking about.

“We still need to get back to the Bama ball, Richardson said. “I say Bama ball, I mean like being organized, not making small mistakes like getting penalties. It’s stuff like that the older players look back at say, ‘That’s not our standard. That’s not our ball that we made here.’”

There have been a number of former players – including Bo Scarbrough, Reggie Ragland, Reuben Foster and Marquis Maze – voicing opinions since Alabama dropped its first game of the year.

The Crimson Tide (1-1), which has now seen three games slip away late in the past two seasons, had its 21-game home winning streak snapped along with a 57-game regular-season binge against nonconference teams dating to Saban’s debut season, 2007.

SEC Network analyst and former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy talked about the dynasty being over in Tuscaloosa.

There have been others, however, that have pumped the brakes on the negative talk surrounding the Crimson Tide, like Fox analyst Joel Klatt.
