Alabama serves alligator in Crimson Tide cafeteria ahead of game with South Florida
Alabama’s team cafeteria had a special on the menu Tuesday.
As Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide prepares to head for the state of Florida to face South Florida in Tampa, Alabama safety Jaylen Key posted a video of a cooked alligator as the meal of the day.
“Folks got a whole gator in here,” Key wrote on his Instagram story.
Yes, South Florida is the Bulls, so the obvious question is, why not steak? Only speculation here, but it might be tough to display a cow on a cafeteria table? Just spitballin’ here. Perhaps it is, indeed, a bull gator, which is defined by the Florida Fish Wildlife and Conservation Commission, as a gator 9 feet in length or larger.
Either way, it’s an impressive spread for a team looking to overcome its 34-24 home loss to Texas last week.

Alabama was already facing an unusual amount of skepticism entering this season.
Now, the questions facing Nick Saban’s juggernaut of a program have intensified dramatically. The 10th-ranked Crimson Tide had never lost this early in a season during Saban’s 16-plus year tenure before falling to No. 4 Texas.
On Saturday, the Tide has a chance to resolve any – and all issues – at South Florida.
“The focus is 100 percent on how we get it turned around,” Saban said Monday. “The future is now.
“We’ve got to do a better job as coaches to help (players) be able to play better more consistently in the game. Put them in a position where they have the best chance to be successful. But I think all these things are very fixable. I believe in our players.”
